A Decade of Experience | Frontline Social Services & Program Coordination
I built my first digital design in Microsoft Paint. It didn’t go well.
Hi, I’m Carrie.
I am a Red River Métis Founder, Lead Designer, and Digital Marketing Strategist. Before I was building brands, my career was rooted in human connection. Spanning the last decade, I have worked across the social services sector—from an early internship with Sandy Bay Child and Family Services, to leadership roles in disability group homes, to serving as the Youth and Community Outreach Coordinator (and later, Program Coordinator) for the Infinity Women Secretariat.
It was during my time at IWS that my design journey started out of necessity. I was surrounded by the beautiful, beaded-style graphics of the Manitoba Métis Federation, and I wanted to create resources that reflected that same cultural pride. After a hilariously brief and humbling attempt at using Microsoft Paint, I asked my boss to borrow an iPad from the IT department and an Apple Pencil. She told me, "If you can figure it out, go for it."
So, I figured it out. I learned relentlessly. I outgrew that borrowed iPad, bought my own iPad Pro, and went back to school to formalize my skills. Before long, I became the go-to creative engine for my organization. Over the years, I designed and executed:
Comprehensive program materials and youth courses
Trauma-informed self-care journals and workbooks
Annual reports and female entrepreneur calendars
Full-scale event branding, from pop-up banners to merchandise
I realized that my unique blend of frontline social service experience and high-end digital design was exactly what the sector was missing. Today, through Carrie & Co. Creative, I combine that grounded, trauma-informed community work with certified, data-driven marketing to help Indigenous artisans and social organizations build brands that truly matter.
